Shaolin Style/Taste The Pain #1 Hip Hop Game

1. Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style (PS1)
Saying that “everyone had their own fighting game back in the 1990’s” really isn’t too much of a stretch, as is proven by “Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style.” You could complete the trials of the 36 chambers in order to save Master Xin. Your weapon: the ancient form of kung fu, known as Wu-Tang. With “Shaolin Style” Wu-Tang became the first rap group to break new ground in terms of mass marketing your brand. While the game may not have been that great, it is the only game on this list to have its own awesome controller.
They do got a point. It was only that the game, in retrospect, sucks heavily. The controls are awful. All the chambers are the same. Enemies are mirrors of the 9 original characters. Their leader was not unlock able. And the gameplay was just a bit unbalanced. 99+ combo hit with Method Man crouching and kicking on the final boss?
Did have some fun four player evening though. And the fatalities were always the ultimate taunt in the face of your friend. Plus it had loads of modes to unlock. Too bad the Merry Go-Round mode was not 4 player compatible.
Pick it up some time. Play it, then put it down. Put in either Soul Blade or Tekken 3 and tell me: did it hodl up? Or was it just like all those other childhood cartoons, kind of crappy if you look at it now.
