Digging for Dirt

At last, something to look forward too. ODB may be gone but the god ‘is’ releasing some shit way more interesting than his wu brethren. I love the idea of generals putting out books. I hope someday to read UG’s life story. (am serious, don’t laugh)

Big baby jesus, I can’t wait!

The life and career of the late rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard will be chronicled in a new book schedule to hit shelves in early December. The biography, titled Digging for Dirt: The Life and Death of ODB, focuses on his rise to fame and includes first-hand accounts from friends, relatives, and of course, his Wu-Tang Clan family.

Breaking news: CL2 in March ‘ 09

Please, don’t let my sarcastic title put you off. I mean all well and I want CL2 as much as the next man. But Rae, I don’t believe you, you need more people!

Raekwon hasn’t released a studio album in five years, but the prospect of a follow up to his 1995 classic, Only Built for Cuban Linx, still generates a buzz in most Hip Hop circles. That anticipation was raised when Rae signed with Aftermath Entertainment in 2006, but the union has still failed to produce any new material from “The Chef.”

I present to you “IDJ’s 2008 Tax Write off”!

This is stupid. The end.

Ghostface has been releasing new albums at such an alarming rate that I’m beginning to wonder if he’s trying to get out of his Def Jam contract. He’s dropped 3 CDs in the last 2 years alone, with another one scheduled for November 25. Contrary to popular belief, Ghostdeini the Great is not Tony’s greatest hits album. It’s a mix of old cuts, remixes, and some new verses.

These boots are made for..

Fila & Wu the dou who brought the Wu Fila Cream (which were kinda hot) are ready to drop another one.

wuboots

These waterproof workboots are the follow-up to the Wu Fila Cream sneakers that dropped last year. They appear to come in three colorways (black/black, navy/black, and gray/ black) and feature a bright yellow Wu-Tang logo. Word on the web is that they’re supposed to hit stores sometime in the fall of 2008.

We need Cappa to youtube this one, cause ain’t feeling it. What’s you take on it?

Crank Dat GZA

Remember when GZA went at Soulja Boy and 50 cent and the latter told Justice to ‘shut it’? Offcourse, you do. Well, the kid just responded to GZA’s attack as posted on Rhapsody blog

On staging a rap duel between him and Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA/Genius, who dissed Soulja Boy on a YouTube video:
I wouldn’t even rap against the Genius. I’d put up someone who was born in ’66 to go against the Genius so it can be a tie. He’s got like 50 years on me. I wouldn’t even associate with the Genius. [In the video] he was looking like I stole his money or something. He’s in Alaska. He’s cold. I just heard 50 Cent talking about the Genius saying he had an Impala his age. Well, that’s the Genius for you. [Laughs.] He has no choice. He got famous for five little minutes, but he had to sacrifice a relationship with Soulja Boy. Now it’s gone. I ain’t gonna be like “F the GZA” ‘cause I ain’t never met that dude. But he says, “F Soulja Boy” ‘cause he needed a buzz. Now he’s back in Alaska.

And that not all, folks

Maybe the GZA need to make “Crank Dat GZA.” [Laughs.]

I know yooouuu already bastardizing the bastard song in you mind. Stop it. That goes for Soulja Boy too. Darn kids.

A few words from the Masta Killa

I might be mistaken but I haven’t heard anything from MK since this whole 8D started. Sit Down Stand Up caught up got the god talking about 8 Diagrams & his next album.

Today I sat down with Wu-Tang Clan’s very own Masta Killa and spoke on 8 Diagrams, his upcoming solo work, the Rock The Bells tour and more. We got to listen to some of the tracks off the new album as well. My comments and details on the new tracks are here.

W: The Wu is about to release a new album, 8 Diagrams. How does it feel to come back together after a few years of everyone focusing on their solo albums?

MK: It feels real good. It’s something the fans have been craving for a while and it was great to come back together with all the brothers again as family. Aside from that I’m also just real happy with the work we put in on 8 Diagrams. To me Iron Flag and The W were good, but I feel with 8 Diagrams we bring it back to the origin. Back to the 36 Chambers where there’s a real intimacy between the brothers. Continue Reading “A few words from the Masta Killa”

Fuck magazines, bloggers rule the earth! Don’t believe me? Check out this tight piece by Sit Down Stand up blog. The kid not only sits down with Noodles (interview will be posted soon), gives a honest impression on the 8 tracks but he drops some info on samples & producers. All praises due!

I sat down with Masta Killa and listened to 8 tracks off of the Wu-Tang Clan’s upcoming new album 8 Diagrams. Some quick thoughts. I heard sword sounds, dark cinematic sounds and driven MCs. Continue Reading “Previewing 8 Songs Off 8 Diagrams”

BSBD team’s up with Hell Razah for ‘Razah’s Ladder’

Blue Sky Black Death, the critically acclaimed production duo of Kingston & Young God, unveil their highly-anticipated sophomore album, ‘Hell Razah: Razah’s Ladder,’ featuring Wu-Tang Clan/Sunz of Man affiliate Hell Razah. The album streets October 23rd, 2007 courtesy of Babygrande Records.

“Hell Razah: Razah’s Ladder” is a shot of adrenaline into the world of producer/emcee concept/collaboration albums. With 2006’s critically acclaimed ‘Blue Sky Black Death presents: The Holocaust’ (which exclusively featured Wu-Tang affiliate Holocaust), Blue Sky Black Death made inroads with indie hip-hop heads for their brooding and nuanced production complementing Holocaust’s fragmented lyricism. “Hell Razah:Razah’s Ladder” suitably expands upon Blue Sky Black Death’s penchant for pairing tasteful instrumental hip-hop with renowned underground emcees. Inside the Raekwon/Aftermath deal

Here’s a real treat! Unkut.com has some very interesting bits around the supposed deal Rae had with Aftermath. Somebody in Rae’s camp spilled the beans.

“The Raekwon album came in done. It’s finished! It’s a finished record. Dre did two records, we were doing the deal, and during the deal the Christmas break came. We took a break for two weeks – came back – Dre acted like we never spoke! I was like ‘Alright, this Raekwon thing…’ and he’s like “Nah, I ain’t fuckin’ with that no more”. And that was it! He turned it off. Boom! Just like that. The thing about it also, is he’s very busy with Detox. I guess over the break he got excited about doing Detox again, so when he came back and they started talking about Raekwon, he was “Nah, I wanna do this” and everything changed.
